2026 Donegal Annual launch – you’re invited!

Come along to the official launch of the 2026 Donegal Annual at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny on Wednesday (8th July) at 6pm. All welcome.

The Donegal Annual is published by the County Donegal Historical Society and first came out in 1947.

Dr Seán Beattie is performing the official launch this year. Seán, who’s from near Culdaff,  is one of the county’s best-known historians and writers. He also edited the Donegal Annual for more than twenty years, stepping down this year. The new editor is Martin McGinley, Ramelton, a past editor of the Derry Journal and Donegal Democrat and also a noted fiddler. 

There will be light refreshments at the launch. 

The 2026 Donegal Annual has articles ranging across the county, and covering right back to the hunter-gatherers of Inishowen 10,000 years ago. Areas featured include Inishtrahull island, Newtowncunningham, Raphoe, Castlefin, Stranorlar, Glenfin, Glenveagh, Kilmacrenan, Tullyfern (Ramelton/Milford/Kerrykeel), Rann na Feirste, Gaoth Dobhair, Narin/Portnoo, Dawros Head (Ardara), Arranmore,  Kilcar, Ballyshannon, Barnesmore – and more!

The annual costs €25 and will be available in local bookshops.
