The County Donegal Historical Society held the last field day of the year on Sunday 8th September when they paid a visit to historic Donegal Town which is celebrating its 550th anniversary.
The society first visited Donegal Abbey where historian Seamus O Doherty delivered a comprehensive talk on the history of the site.

Afterwards they visited Donegal Castle where Sean Browne (OPW) give an insightful presentation of the castle’s history.

There was a large gathering in attendance, the weather held up, and it was a most enjoyable day.
